Description

This Lent, the sister-parishes of St. Paul and St. Bruno will be hosting The Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibition at both of our churches. made up of posters revealing information about miracles from all over the world. These miracles of the Sacred Host have occurred at times dating back to very early in the Christian era. They are varied and range in types from healings of the sick to many which involve a change in the substance of the consecrated “bread and wine” of communion into actual human flesh and blood. Since the past century or so, the miracles involving a change in the substance of the hosts, have undergone significant research by world renowned scientists. In one miracle, which occurred in 750 in Lanciano, Italy, there had been a young monk who began to doubt the truth of the actual presence of Jesus in the Sacred Host. While he was attending Mass, during the consecration, the host turned into flesh. This host had been saved and some research was done on it. In 1970-71 and 1981 it was reinvestigated by several scientists, Prof. Odoardo Linoli and Prof. Ruggero Bertelli. They found that it is in fact Myocardium tissue and the blood type is AB. There is much more information on the Internet at: http://www.therealpresence.org/eucharst/mir/lanciano.html. The person who actually started this collection was a young Italian, Carlo Acutis. He and his parents visited some of the sites where the miracles occurred. He was so inspired that at age eleven, he began a computer search and compiled his findings into a collection which he shared on the Internet. Sadly, he developed Leukemia and he died in 2006. Now, his cause is being considered for sainthood and he has been named “Venerable” in this process. Some are already calling him a “Saint for teens and computer enthusiasts.” More information on him is included in the exhibit.
